Västerbotten is the second largest
county in the country and covers more than one eighth of the total
area of Sweden.
A journey through Västerbotten takes
you from the flat country by the northern part of the Gulf of Bothnia,
through the vast coniferous forests and mires in the inland to the
magnificent mountains in the west.

Fishing
Of the original 20 rivers with
natural reproduction of salmon around the Baltic Sea, only 25 are left
today. Ten of these are in the County of Västerbotten.
There are, in other words, excellent
opportunities for salmon fishing in the county, both for angling in
the rivers and for commercial fishing along the Baltic coast.
